Juventus are closing in on agreeing a long-term contract extension with Paulo Dybala after the club made a breakthrough in negotiations.

Dybala’s current deal in Turin expires next summer and the player’s entourage have been robust when dealing with Juventus. However, there’s always been a willingness on behalf of both parties to strike an agreement, and it appears one will be arriving soon.

Breakthrough and potential terms

The reliable Goal reporter Romeo Agresti understands Juve are “on the verge” of wrapping up a deal for the Argentine that’d keep him at the club until 2025. The Bianconeri are also willing to increase his salary to €8m plus bonuses.

It had previously been reported that Jorge Antun, Dybala’s agent, had wanted his client to join Matthijs de Ligt as the highest-paid player at the club. That would see La Joya garner a €12m salary.

It seems that a compromise has been reached and Antun is set to meet with club officials in the coming days to finalise the agreement.

What’s Dybala said?

The one-time Serie A MVP is regarded as the leading protagonist in Massimiliano Allegri’s second project at Juventus. After an injury-riddled 2020/21, Dybala’s started the new campaign brightly, registering four goal contributions in five games.

La Joya’s made his intentions clear that he wants to stay in Turin for the long haul.

After Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Malmo on Matchday 1 of the Champions League, Dybala said: “We hope to close soon for the renewal.

“There is everyone’s desire to complete the negotiations, they know that on my part there is a great desire to stay in Turin. I know that the management also wants to extend my contract and we have started talking again.

“I hope that everything will be over soon and good news can arrive for everyone, I am very confident,” he added.
