He is not world-renowned for his goalscoring abilities. In terms of fame as a striker, he has always been under the radar. Nevertheless, he is the winner of the 2018/19 Capocannoniere accolade. Scoring 26 goals, Fabio Quagliarella beat the likes of Duván Zapata, Cristiano Ronaldo and Arkadiusz Milik to lift the first Capocannoniere of his prolonged career.

He is now 38 and edging closer to that day when he will finally draw all this chaos to an end. But when it comes to playing one of his former teams in Juventus, there will be no better incentive to give his best out on the field. Quagliarella was with the Old Lady for four years (from 2010 to 2014). During that time, he racked up 30 goals from 102 games, according to Transfermarkt.

Last season, he managed to score 13 goals from 33 games for Sampdoria. This season, he is yet to open his account in Serie A. In a Coppa Italia game against US Alessandria, Quagliarella scored his 100th goal for the club, taking 239 appearances to accomplish the feat. The goal against US Alessandria is the only one he has scored this season.

As far as these two teams’ last three meetings are concerned, Juventus haven’t conceded a single goal against Sampdoria, always keeping a clean sheet. In fact, Quagliarella has never scored a goal from the open play against Juventus while playing for Sampdoria, with one being scored via a penalty kick by the veteran in 2018. Surely, “Mr Hitman” will be looking to break his duck on Sunday.
