Manuel Locatelli snatched a late winner for Juventus in the Derby della Mole as the Bianconeri won a drab contest 1-0.

The visitors started brightly as Moise Kean and Weston McKennie missed chances. Torino then got a foot-hold of proceedings and took control up until half-time but they created little. The introduction of Juan Cuadrado at the break saw Juve improve in attack as Max Allegri shuffled his pack.

The hosts seemed content on securing a point as the Bianconeri pressed to little avail. They did eventually break through, however, through the right-boot of Locatelli, whose pinpoint finish crashed off the post and into the net to secure a late derby victory for Juventus.

Here are our Juventus player ratings from Saturday’s win.

Wojciech Szczesny (GK) – 6/10 – Szczesny made a couple of saves without ever exerting himself. There was little to do, although he did flap at a couple of high balls. Another ‘safe’ performance, nonetheless as Juventus finally kept a Serie A clean sheet.

Danilo (RB) – 6/10 – It was a quiet evening for Danilo, who didn’t seem incredibly active in this one. The Brazilian defended the back post well when required, although Josip Brekalo did cause him a problem or two early on. The Croatian’s influence swiftly waned, though.

Matthijs de Ligt (CB) – 8/10 – De Ligt’s fine form continued. Antonio Sanabria was no match for the imperious Dutchman, who completely dominated the Torino forward in the air and on the ground. Moreover, his perfectly timed tackle on Ola Aina in the opening period was a definitive highlight.

Giorgio Chiellini (CB) – 7/10 – The veteran also defended stoutly for the most part, especially in the first half amid a crossing barrage from the hosts. He drove out of defence with serious vigour at times, but he was often bereft of any quality. A late yellow card (that wasn’t) put a minor blemish on his display.

Alex Sandro (LB) – 7/10 – It appeared Alex Sandro would struggle against the exciting Wilfried Singo, but the Torino wing-back was rarely granted the opportunity to run at the Brazilian. Thus, this was a sound display from Juve’s left-back, who also offered some attacking thrust with a few driving runs after the break.
