From Max Allegri barking that he would want to see the midfielder scoring ten goals this season to the midfielder missing the chances falling in his path, the decline in Weston McKennie’s progression has painted a grim picture of a professional failing to fulfil his promise.

Weston McKennie is one of those players supposedly considering their futures at Juventus. Surrounded by the clouds of uncertainty, McKennie’s future has extensively been linked with a move away from Juventus in the upcoming January transfer window.

Like Juventus’ topsy-turvy start to the season, McKennie has been underwhelming. Having made seven appearances across all competitions (according to Transfermarkt), the 23-year-old is yet to log a goal or assist for the Bianconeri. While none of us knows what will happen in the future, McKennie needs to work with the present to salvage something better from the upcoming weeks and months.

As per the reports, the USMNT international will start the game against Roma on Sunday. And if those reports are believed to be true, he is going to play in the midfield and perhaps in the place of injured Adrien Rabiot.

It will be a huge opportunity for the youngster to leave his mark. Considering that Arthur Melo is close to returning to full-time action for the Old Lady, the competition for places within the team is only going to increase. McKennie is likely to get a handful of opportunities to prove his worth. And the game against Roma includes one.
