Juventus star Federico Chiesa will not make the trip to Hellas Verona on Saturday due to fatigue.
It’s been a slow start to the season for the brilliant Italian, with several niggling fitness issues preventing the 24-year-old from taking off. Chiesa has just two Serie A goal contributions in nine Serie A appearances, as well as one goal in the Champions League, which came in the impressive win over Chelsea.
He had looked short of fitness before Massimiliano Allegri opted to rest him for last weekend’s Derby d’Italia draw. Chiesa returned to the starting XI for the stunning home defeat to Sassuolo in which he provided a spark but offered little substance.
While we haven’t seen the 24-year-old at his very best as of late, his absence is a big blow for a Juventus side in need of a victory on Matchday 11.
Chiesa misses out due to fatigue
According to Goal Italia’s reliable Romeo Agresti, Chiesa will not make the trip to Verona because of “slight fatigue”.
Aaron Ramsey also misses out with the same issue, despite the Welshman playing just six minutes for the Old Lady since returning from international duty with Wales earlier this month.
Latest team news for Hellas Verona
Chiesa, Ramsey, Moise Kean and Mattia De Sciglio have been ruled out, but Federico Bernardeschi has made the squad for Saturday’s clash. The Italian was forced off early on against Inter Milan with a shoulder injury, consequently missing the Sassuolo defeat.
Agresti adds that Giorgio Chiellini is expected to return to the defence, while Rodrigo Bentancur has been tested in midfield with Arthur Melo. Thus, we could see the Brazilian make his first start of the season with Manuel Locatelli finally earning a rest.
Adrien Rabiot, meanwhile, is expected to retain his place on the left side of midfield, as is Alvaro Morata up top. There had been some talk in the Italian media of Kaio Jorge, who’s impressed Allegri since joining the club, making his first Serie A start on Saturday.
