The Serie A MVP in the 2019/20 season
Sharing the limelight for a player of Paulo Dybala’s ilk is not always an easy task. But La Joya had to comply with the standards following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. The departure of Allegri meant a different sort of composition for the playmaker. However, the change in management hardly troubled the Argentine’s resolution.
In fact, Maurizio Sarri’s guidance helped Dybala win the Serie A’s most valuable player for the 2019/20 season. It was the first of the Argentine’s illustrious career in Italy.
Playing alongside Ronaldo in Juventus’ frontline, Dybala scored goals against opponents such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, Lazio, Torino, et cetera. It could be argued that all the crucial goals at crucial stages of the competition were scored by the Argentine that season.
Courtesy of 11 goals and six assists in Serie A, Dybala seized the accolade. Across all competitions, however, Dybala plundered 17 goals and 14 assists from 46 games in the 2019/20 season.
The MVP title came off the back of a league campaign that saw Dybala log only five goals and four assists across 30 appearances. Juventus won the ninth successive Scudetto, and Dybala’s capture of the MVP award made Juventini feel the sheer ecstasy of the situation.
