Super agent Mino Raiola has further commented on the futures of Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt and reported Juve transfer target Paul Pogba.
Raiola has always been a mischievous, outspoken figure and the agent is working his magic once more regarding the situations of both De Ligt and Pogba. He has previously said that the Dutch centre-back could leave Turin at the end of the season, while he’s perpetually teased Juventini over a potential Pogba reunion at the Allianz Stadium.
The Frenchman’s contract at Manchester United expires next summer with his future at Old Trafford currently unclear.
De Ligt in contract talks with Juventus
Despite Raiola’s previous comments, former Ajax defender De Ligt appears happy in Turin and according to Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), Juventus are in negotiations with the Dutchman over a new contract.
However, there is a caveat. The report suggests that Raiola is merely trying to work a new deal for De Ligt in order to lower the player’s €120m release clause. Chelsea have been linked with a move for the defender, with Raiola seemingly keen to move his client on from Turin despite his friendly relationship with the Juventus hierarchy.
Speaking to Rai Sport (via Fabrizio Romano) about De Ligt’s future, Raiola said: “Staying at Juventus or leaving? We should do this interview in May… it’s November now. It’s not time to talk about it.”
Pogba’s dream
The super-agent was similarly coy over the future of Pogba, who has endured a pretty miserable campaign in Manchester and is currently nursing a thigh injury.
The Frenchman is yet to sign a new contract with the Red Devils and it’s gradually becoming more likely that he won’t be a Manchester United player come the start of next season. Naturally, Juve have been linked with a move and the Bianconeri require further midfield reinforcements. However, it’d be an incredibly difficult deal for them to pull off from a financial perspective.
“It’s too early to speak about Paul Pogba’s contract . Let’s see what happens. I can’t stop anyone from dreaming Paul,” Raiola commented (via Romano).
“December is the month of dreams… and I can’t stop dreams, but is better to not speak about Paul. If some former Man United players don’t speak about me and Paul, they won’t work anymore,” he added.
