Both Lazio and Juventus could be without their star men when the two sides lock horns on Saturday evening with both Ciro Immobile and Paulo Dybala doubts for the game.
The Matchday 13 bout is a huge one for Juventus, with the Bianconeri grabbing a huge three points in their final outing before the international break. Juan Cuadrado struck late on for Massimiliano Allegri’s side to sink Fiorentina and move Juve to within four points off fourth place Atalanta.
Following a three-game unbeaten run, Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio currently sit just a point off the top four in fifth. However, they might be without star striker Immobile.
Growing optimism surrounding Immobile’s status for Lazio vs Juventus
Having scored ten goals already this season, Immobile leads the Serie A scoring charts as he goes in search of a fourth Capocannoniere crown.
But, the Italy striker pulled out of the Azzurri’s recent squad for their final World Cup qualifiers due to a soleus muscle issue in the left calf. Initially, it appeared unlikely for Immobile to recover in time for Saturday’s game against Juventus but there’s growing optimism that he can now play some part.
Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) reports that the Biancocelesti skipper is working incredibly hard to be fit in time for the weekend. Immobile underwent further tests on Wednesday and the player will be evaluated on Friday.
Dybala injured on international duty
Paulo Dybala, Juventus’ star man this term, picked up a knock while making a rare start for Argentina in their 1-0 victory over Uruguay. After setting up the game’s opener and winner, La Joya was forced off at half-time due to injury.
Like Immobile, Dybala is suffering from a calf problem and he flew back to Turin before Argentina played out a stalemate with Brazil on Tuesday night. His injury isn’t suspected to be serious, but there’s doubt as to whether he’ll be fit to face Lazio on Saturday.
Knowing Allegri, it’s likely that the creator won’t be risked with Juventus playing Chelsea and Atalanta before the end of November.
