Juventus have been handed a massive blow ahead of their Serie A encounter against Lazio on Saturday.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men have made a miserable start to the season. Having amassed just 18 points from 12 games in Serie A, the Bianconeri currently find themselves in eighth position. Inconsistency has been a bigger problem than injuries for Allegri’s side so far this season.

However, as things stand, the growing injury woes might surpass the misery inflicted by Juve’s inconsistent performances. During the latest international break, one of Juventus’ most coveted superstars in Paulo Dybala picked up an injury.

While playing against Uruguay last Friday, La Joya was forced off the field at half-time. Afterwards, Dybala was diagnosed with a calf injury.

Concerns over his fitness were somewhat reduced as it was reported yesterday that the Bianconeri number 10 might be able to make a swift comeback ahead of a crucial clash against Lazio this weekend.

However, that hasn’t materialised.

Paulo Dybala joins others on the sideline at Juventus

According to the latest report coming from Romeo Agresti, Dybala has been ruled out of Juve’s visit to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend. As such, the diminutive Argentine has joined a long list of players, including Giorgio Chiellini, Mattia De Sciglio, Federico Bernardeschi and Aaron Ramsey, who’ll miss Saturday’s trip.

Having made nine appearances in Serie A this season, Dybala has logged three goals and three assists, becoming a true talisman for La Vecchia Signora in the 2021/22 campaign. He has proved to be a creative force for Max Allegri’s side and without La Joya providing the odd springing of magic, the Juventus attack has often looked toothless.

On the other hand, the return of Moise Kean might make Allegri heave a sigh of relief amid these torrid times. In the absence of Dybala, Kean could partner with Alvaro Morata in Juve’s frontline on Saturday. Otherwise, Allegri might be tempted to go with Dejan Kulusevski, who, like Dybala, is more of a creator than an out-and-out striker.
