Atalanta piled the misery on Massimiliano Allegri and Juventus as they secured their first-ever victory at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A on Saturday evening.

A superbly-taken Duvan Zapata goal was enough to earn La Dea all three points, as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side extended their advantage over Juventus to seven points in the table.

For the Bianconeri, it was another forgettable display as Atalanta’s press dominated the opening exchanges. The hosts improved somewhat after the break and came close through Adrien Rabiot and Paulo Dybala, but they didn’t create nearly enough to deserve a point.

Here are the Juventus player ratings from Saturday’s Serie A defeat, their fifth in 14 games.

Wojciech Szczesny (GK) – 6/10 – Szczesny was proactive off his line but he had a couple of hairy moments in possession. Otherwise, he was quiet with Atalanta rarely testing him either side of Zapata’s brilliant strike.

Juan Cuadrado (RB) – 5/10 – Juventus missed Danilo in possession tonight. Cuadrado’s decision-making with the ball was often poor, as he frequently put unnecessary pressure on his teammates. Defensively, there was little to critique although he did well to prevent Mario Pasalic from latching onto Alex Sandro’s timely intervention midway through the second half.

Leonardo Bonucci (CB) – 5.5/10 – The skipper failed to galvanise his troops after Tuesday’s thrashing. Bonucci had a mixed evening with the ball, but was pretty stout defensively.

Matthijs de Ligt (CB) – 4.5/10 – A nervy outing for De Ligt, his second poor showing on the spin. The Dutchman produced two unforced errors in the opening exchanges that could’ve been costly, while he was fortunate his mistimed clearance wasn’t pounced upon by an Atalanta shirt after the break. He covered wide areas well, but he looked uncomfortable for the most part.

Alex Sandro (LB) – 4/10 – Seemingly restricted to playing in his own half, it was tough watching Alex Sandro tonight. This is a player who’s lost so much athleticism and looks so awkward with possession. He offers Juve very little and it’s staggering that the manager persists with him.
