The agent of Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo has weighed in on his client’s current situation in Turin and he’s expected to leave the club “soon”.

The Brazilian missed the start of the 2021/22 season through injury but he’s since failed to establish himself in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans. Arthur’s start in Juventus’ Champions League clash against Malmo on Wednesday was just his second of the campaign.

The metronomic midfielder produced a typically assured and uncharacteristically robust performance in the slender win, but the manager doesn’t seem convinced by the Brazilian. Allegri confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Arthur will miss Saturday’s Serie A clash with Venezia after he was late to training on Friday.

While the boss didn’t appear overly angered by the midfielder’s slight misdemeanour, the writing is on the wall for Arthur in Turin.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Arthur is expected to leave Juventus “soon”. The Bianconeri are keen to refresh their midfield options this winter and it was reported last month that the Brazilian could be sacrificed to make up room for a new arrival.

The likes of Sevilla, Lazio and Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Juventus man, although clubs have been deterred by the Old Lady’s €35m valuation. Thus, should Arthur leave this January, it’ll likely be on an initial loan.

Speaking to Tuttosport (via Romano), Arthur’s agent opened the door to a January exit amid frustrations over his client’s playing time.

“Keeping a player of this level on the bench is a shame,” he said. “For January we can’t exclude anything: there’s interest from La Liga clubs, but also from Premier League and Serie A.”

While Arthur will miss Saturday’s trip to Venice, Allegri hinted that he’ll be back in contention for Juventus’ final two games of 2021. The Bianconeri travel to Bologna next Saturday before hosting Cagliari the following Tuesday.
