Cuadrado only scores bangers

Juan Cuadrado’s strike in the 68th minute was the killer blow that Allegri was desperate for. A universal sigh of relief was let out among Juventus supporters as the Colombian’s effort found the back of the net.

For much of the contest, Juventus’ full-backs were restricted in attack with the width provided by both wingers. However, after Alex Sandro replaced the injured Luca Pellegrini early on in the second half, Allegri decided to unleash Cuadrado.

The versatile veteran was given more freedom to maraud into the final third and it was one of these optimistic ventures that facilitated his brilliant goal. Cuadrado was spotted by Morata on the edge of the Bologna box before he was confronted by Mattias Svanberg upon reception. A shimmy away from the committed Swede opened up ample space for an ambitious but well-hit effort at goal. The strike flashed beyond an outstretched Łukasz Skorupski via the back of Aaron Hickey.

It was a wonderful goal from Cuadrado that reinforced the notion that the Colombian quite literally only scores ‘bangers’ – there’s probably a definition on Urban Dictionary, if you’re interested.

Saturday’s strike was his fourth of the season, and his previous three were similarly impressive: the fierce strike on Matchday 1 against Udinese, the last-gasp winner against Fiorentina and, of course, the recent corner goal versus Genoa.
