Juventus Transfers: Aaron Ramsey rejects latest Premier League suitor
Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has rejected an approach from Premier League outfit Burnley to join them in January.
The Bianconeri are hopeful of getting the perpetually injured Ramsey off their books this month to potential facilitate the arrival of a new midfielder. The Welshman has been thrust to the periphery by Massimiliano Allegri this term despite a promising pre-season in which he was tried out as a regista.
But, after starting the opening game of the season against Udinese, Ramsey has since played just 38 minutes in Serie A. Once again, injuries have prevented the midfielder from building any sort of momentum in Bianconeri colours and all parties are hopeful of finding a solution in January regarding his exit.
Club CEO Maurizio Arrivabene ruled out the club terminating the player’s contract, which was heavily reported in the Italian media as being a genuine possibility. Thus, Juve are hopeful that a buyer for Ramsey manifests in January and interest from the Premier League is brewing.
Aaron Ramsey rejects an approach from Premier League side Burnley
Juventus have seemingly been waiting for an approach from Newcastle United for Ramsey, who could view the Welshman as a potential saviour in their quest for survival in 2022.
However, the Magpies are yet to swoop and, instead, fellow relegation candidate Burnley made their move. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, who was speaking on Sky Sports News, the Clarets made a formal offer to Ramsey only to be rejected by the former Arsenal midfielder.
Sean Dyche’s 4-4-2 doesn’t appear the ideal fit for Ramsey, who is reportedly waiting for a “more interesting” proposal to leave Juventus. The player is keen on a return to the Premier League, however.
Romeo Agresti (via @ForzaJuventus) reported on Monday that the “first contacts” between Newcastle and Ramsey were expected in the coming hours. That’s a project that’ll entice the player, and should the Magpies propose an offer to Juve, that’s where he’ll surely be headed this winter.
