Juventus and AC Milan played out a dire stalemate on Sunday night as the visitors failed to register a shot on-target.

Rafael Leão offered a glimmer of attacking thrust in the opening period, but his exuberance amounted to very little. Otherwise, both sides were desperately bereft of any quality; Juventus in transition and Milan in the attacking third

Like Juve, the Rossoneri created very little in a contest that resembled vintage Calcio. The draw leaves Milan four points adrift of Inter at the top of the table, while Juve failed to gain any ground on Atalanta in the top-four race.

Here are the Juventus player ratings from the 0-0 draw with AC Milan.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Wojciech Szczesny (GK) – 6.5/10 – Szczesny saved well from a fierce Leão drive early on and his hands were safe throughout. He looks as secure as he’s ever done between the sticks.

Mattia De Sciglio (RB) – 6/10 – De Sciglio had a couple of hairy moments in one-vs-one situations but he held his own, especially when matched up against Leão. Overall, he was solid in a stout defensive display.

Daniele Rugani (CB) – 8.5/10 – This was Rugani’s best performance in a Juventus shirt in, well, forever! The Italian has been sound as of late, but he performed like a bona fide elite centre-back on Sunday night. His reading of the game was phenomenal as he made three key interventions in the first half. He covered both of his full-backs superbly throughout.

Giorgio Chiellini (CB) – 7/10 – Chiellini followed up his Supercoppa masterclass with another sound low block defensive showing on Sunday. While he wasn’t quite as imperious as he was against Inter, the wily veteran outdueled Olivier Giroud for the most part and surprisingly added the odd moment of thrust in possession.

Alex Sandro (LB) – 4/10 – It’s hard to write anything positive here, I’m afraid. The left-back supplied nothing going forward and he was seemingly in a perpetual struggle to retain possession every time the ball arrived at his feet.
