Juventus’ stunning proposal to sign Dusan Vlahović before the January transfer deadline has once again opened the door for Alvaro Morata to leave the club.

Barcelona had reached a total agreement with Morata earlier this month and Juve were happy to let the Spaniard depart providing they could quickly identify and sign a replacement. But, the Bianconeri turned down the chance to bring in Memphis Depay as part of the deal, while other short-term forward options weren’t forthcoming.

Thus, it was expected that Morata would see out his loan spell in Turin and Massimiliano Allegri said the Spaniard was “going nowhere” this month.

However, the situation has changed suddenly.

Alvaro Morata could yet join Barcelona before the deadline if Juventus sign Dusan Vlahovic

It seemed that Juventus were content to stick with Morata for the rest of the season and re-evaluate the striker position in the summer with Gianluca Scamacca and Vlahović being long-term targets.

However, the club have made a stunning proposal out of nowhere to sign Vlahović this month. The 21-year-old has rejected moves abroad to join Juventus and this is a deal that could be completed swiftly.

Should Vlahović join the club, that would surely open the door for Morata to join Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard is still keen on a move to Catalonia, but the move hinges on Barça’s wage bill and Atletico Madrid, who currently own the striker.

Romeo Agresti adds that it was no coincidence that Morata’s representatives arrived in Milan on Monday. The player’s entourage, along with Barça, are waiting for the Vlahović deal to develop with Xavi still intent on signing the Spaniard before the deadline.
