For three weeks, Juventus had sauntered through January with such serenity that it was almost like they’d forgotten the transfer window was open.

Then, Monday night happened.

Signing the striker that’ll lead the Bianconeri’s line for the next decade is a key part of Juve’s rebuild and for a while, it seemed that the club would settle with a summer move for the very talented Gianluca Scamacca.

The idea of securing the services of Dusan Vlahović had become somewhat of a fantasy. Despite the Serb’s supposed desires, the finances involved would surely rule the Old Lady out of the running, right?

Right?!

Vlahović currently co-leads the Serie A scoring charts with Ciro Immobile and the player’s desperation to claim Capocannoniere this season meant a January move overseas was unlikely.

Despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur and particularly Arsenal, the 21-year-old hitman is said to have rejected a move to the Premier League this month.

However, when Juventus come knocking, it’s a different sort of knock.

According to the reliable Romeo Agresti, the supposedly financially stricken Juve have made a €60m offer to Fiorentina to sign Vlahović before the close of the January transfer window. It remains to be seen whether any bonuses are included in the initial proposal to meet La Viola’s €70m asking price.

Agresti adds that Fiorentina’s demands “does not seem to scare the Bianconeri leaders” despite their “economic difficulties”. Juve are keen to secure Vlahović’s services this month in order to get ahead in their rebuild and boost their chances of finishing in the top-four this season. The Bianconeri are currently fifth in the Serie A table and a point adrift of Atalanta, who have played a game less, in fourth.

While the deal is not done, Vlahović has said yes to Juve’s proposed €7m salary and he’s happy to join Juventus before the deadline.

Adding to Agresti’s report, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano writes that Juventus and Fiorentina will be in direct contact on Tuesday to perhaps conclude the deal. Fiorentina are lining up a €16m offer for Basel forward Arthur Cabral, who is the club’s priority target in case the Vlahović deal is “completed in the coming hours”.

It’s happening, folks. Get excited.
