Another midfield target has emerged for Juventus in the form of Cagliari’s Nahitan Nández, and it seems that the club will be able to pull this move off.

Tuesday’s transfer headlines have understandably been dominated by Juve’s agreement with Fiorentina over the €75m purchase of Dusan Vlahović. However, the club have also been working to reshuffle their midfield before the deadline.

Arthur Melo and Rodrigo Bentancur are two players linked with a move away, but their respective departures are dependent on whether Juve can identify and sign replacements. The Bianconeri have previously been linked with Lyon’s Bruno Guimarães and Borussia Monchengladbach’s impending free-agent Denis Zakaria.

However, the club were deterred by Lyon’s €45m asking price for Guimarães, while nothing has ever been advanced regarding Zakaria. On Tuesday morning, a new name has emerged as a possibility for the Bianconeri.

Cagliari’s Nahitan Nández is a “concrete” loan option for Juventus

Before reporting Juve’s agreement with Fiorentina to sign Vlahović, Romeo Agresti wrote that the club are also “concretely evaluating” versatile Cagliari midfielder Nández as an option to bolster their midfield.

Mirko Di Natale of TuttoJuve adds that Nández will be brought in on loan if either Arthur or Bentancur leave Turin before the deadline. Both Guimarães and Zakaria remain on the club’s radar but Nández looks like the easiest deal to pull off. Tutto MercatoWeb adds that the excellent relationship between Juventus and Cagliari should aid negotiations with the player’s agent already in Turin to discuss a move.

The 26-year-old would be an astute signing for Juventus. Nández has 49 senior caps for Uruguay and he can play in a multitude of positions, which Massimiliano Allegri will undoubtedly appreciate.

In his 18 appearances for Cagliari this season, transfermarkt.com says he’s played five different roles. In fact, the vast majority of his minutes this term have come from wing-back, but he’s primarily a central midfielder.
