Juventus have just a few more hours to get Aaron Ramsey off their books before the January transfer window slams shut.

The Bianconeri have surprised us all with the business they’ve pulled off in the window thus far and selling Ramsey, which seemed an inevitability, would wrap up a quite brilliant January window.

Juve had had no problems identifying potential suitors for Ramsey’s signature this month. Plenty of interest has surfaced from the Premier League, but the high-earning Welshman is yet to accept a single proposal.

It’s all on him.

Juventus’ priority on deadline day is to sell Aaron Ramsey

Ramsey has already rejected moves to Burnley and Crystal Palace, while Newcastle United, which seemed like a likely destination, failed to make an offer for the 31-year-old. Ramsey was said to be waiting out for a proposal from the Magpies.

Nevertheless, another potential buyer has emerged on the final day of the window in the form of Scottish behemoths Rangers. Romeo Agresti, who says it’s Juve’s “goal of the day” to sell Ramsey, reports that contact has been made between the two clubs but the final decision ultimately lies with the player himself.

It’s already been established that should the club fail to shift Ramsey before the deadline, he won’t be a part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans throughout the second half of the 2021/22 season. The midfielder has only made one start for Juventus this term and that came on Matchday 1 of Serie A.

One source, Franco Leonetti, believes that Ramsey’s move to Rangers is close. He speculates that Juve will loan the Welshman to Ibrox with the Scottish club having an option to buy at €5.5m in the summer. Despite Leonetti’s confidence, it remains to be seen just how close this deal is.

Should Juventus pull this off, then many will regard the January mercato as nothing short of perfect.
