He’s here and he’s beautiful.
After Juventus swiftly wrapped up negotiations with Fiorentina for Dusan Vlahovic before announcing the player as a Bianconero on Friday evening, the club official unveiled the man who’ll spearhead their rebuild on Tuesday morning.
Juve’s big-money purchase of Vlahovic sent shockwaves across calcio with the Old Lady’s intent on swiftly re-establishing themself as a major European power becoming abundantly clear.
The current co-leader of the Serie A scoring charts attracted interest from clubs across the continent in January, with Arsenal making a serious push to sign the player. However, reports started to emerge before Juve sent their initial proposal to Fiorentina that the player only had eyes for Turin.
Dusan Vlahovic says it was an easy choice to sign for Juventus after he was unveiled by the club on Tuesday
After undergoing his first training session over the weekend, Vlahovic enjoyed his first press conference as a Juventus player on Tuesday in which he said it was an easy choice to sign for the Bianconeri.
“I am emotional and proud to have signed for Juventus. I am ready to give my all for this glorious club to reach its objectives,” the recently-turned 22-year-old began. “The choice was easy. The Juventus DNA: the desire to fight, to never give up, to aim to be the best – all these elements are also part of my character. I fit in here.”
The prolific Serb said all the right things during the presser. Aligning with the club’s DNA, Vlahovic frequently emphasised the importance of the collective throughout as he failed to get sucked into comparisons with some of his contemporaries.
“As for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe – I am following my own path. How far I’ll reach, I don’t know, but I’ll give my all to achieve as much as possible,” he said.
Vlahovic also downplayed the importance of choosing the #7 shirt, saying he merely picked it because “it was the nearest to the number nine” before wrapping up the presser by thanking his former club Fiorentina.
“I want to thank everyone at Fiorentina who helped me mature and make me the player I am today,” he concluded in what was an impressive opening presser from the young man.
I have a feeling he might do quite well here…
