Assessing whether Juventus should resign or let go the players with expiring contracts

There was a time not so long ago when it appeared that Juventus had little choice but to re-sign Bernardeschi. The Italian, following years of indifference, produced a brilliant month of football in December.

However, Bernardeschi’s been pretty quiet to start 2022 and a niggling injury is currently keeping him out of action.

Nevertheless, while the midfielder is never going to contribute bundles of goals or assists, what he does offer is highly valued by Max Allegri. He’s versatile and willing to perform anything asked of him. We’ve seen him play a multitude of functions in various systems this season and the vast majority have been performed with the utmost diligence.

I think he’ll extend with Juve, and I have no objections – especially if the Italian takes a pay-cut.

Verdict: Re-sign with pay-cut
