Cult hero. (Photo by Jonathan Moscrop/Getty Images) /

Allegri has always been an admirer of De Sciglio, but our expectations of the player heading into the 2021/22 campaign were pretty low.

However, after notching back-to-back match-winning assists in October victories over AS Roma and Zenit, De Sciglio has gone from strength to strength in Bianconeri colours, altering our judgements by the game. His fine season up to this point peaked with a rare goal that capped off a comeback for the ages against Roma in January, and the Italian’s starting to emerge into a bit of a cult hero among Juventini.

His Lordship is a steady and reliable figure who’s adept as both a right- and left-back. This is the sort of flexibility that gets Allegri off and I have no doubts the manager will be pushing for the club to re-sign De Sciglio in the coming weeks. The Italian’s comparatively low salary means this is one Juve should be able to get over the line. Although, reports are starting to emerge of Atletico Madrid holding an interest in the player.

Such interest will be irrelevant, however, if De Sciglio signs on the dotted line.

Verdict: Re-sign
