Juventus Transfers: Bianconeri ‘firmly in the race’ to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger
Juventus remain one of several clubs interested in signing potential free agent Antonio Rudiger this summer.
The German defender is yet to pen a contract extension with Chelsea and it seems likely that he’ll become a free agent at the end of the season after the Blues failed to convince Rudiger in recent negotiations.
Rudiger has blossomed into one of Europe’s best performing defenders since Thomas Tuchel took over at Stamford Bridge last January. Thus, many of Europe’s elite are tracking the defender’s situation ahead of a potential summer move.
Juventus, whose interest has already been reported, remain keen on signing the impending free agent this summer.

90min’s Graeme Bailey, who was the first to report Juve’s interest at the start of the year, has reiterated the club’s intention to sign Rudiger on a free transfer this summer.
However, they face stiff competition if they’re to bring the German back to Serie A. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are all set to be a part of the Rudiger sweepstake this summer. Current United boss Ralf Rangnick, who’s set to move upstairs at Old Trafford following the conclusion of the current campaign, is a huge admirer of the German international and regards him as a priority target.
Juventus, meanwhile, are finally looking beyond the imperious Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini era. After signing Serie B star Federico Gatti from Frosinone in January, the club are intent on signing another centre-back in the summer as well as extending the contract of Matthijs de Ligt.
According to Tuttosport (via @JuveFC), Torino’s Gleison Bremer, AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mattias Ginter are three players Juventus are currently tracking.
The Old Lady have let two stellar defenders depart in recent years in Cristian Romero and Merih Demiral, so this decision is one they can’t afford to mess up again.
