3. Creator off the left
There isn’t much to add here. Instead of Chiesa playing on the left, he’ll play on his favoured right flank which means Juve will need a player capable of occupying the left-wing.
As I noted, Chiesa typically shortens his game on the right and under Allegri this season, he was often disconnected from Juve’s possession play when he played off this flank. However, this was more a product of the manager’s inhibiting and confused system than the player himself.
Before Allegri’s arrival, Chiesa had a tremendous amount of success off the right, shining for Italy at the Euros on that side, and he’ll probably be used in this position for Juventus once he returns from injury. Although, Allegri appreciates his wingers being able to play off both flanks.
Thus, if Chiesa’s to play off the right moving forward, Sassuolo duo Giacomo Raspadori and Hamed Traore are viable options for the role off the left where they’ll have the licence to cut inside and float between the lines.
I can’t envisage Juve signing a touchline winger with the vast majority of wide players becoming inside forwards following the emergence of inverted wingers over the past 15 years.
