2. Tek qualifies for Qatar 2022

Russia’s disqualification from the World Cup playoffs meant that Wojciech Szczesny’s Poland were just one game away from Qatar.

Meeting them in their playoff final was Sweden, who had overcome the Czech Republic 1-0 in their semi-final.

Szczesny saved well from both Emil Forsberg and former Juventus teammate Dejan Kulusevski before Robert Lewandowski gave Poland the lead from the spot just after half-time. Tek then brilliantly denied Forsberg from close range to preserve his side’s advantage as Piotr Zielinski sealed Poland’s progression into the World Cup finals with 20 minutes remaining.

Juve’s Tek was a huge part of Poland’s triumph, and they’ll be in Pot 3 for Friday’s draw.
