Juventus Transfers: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic saga expected in the summer
There hasn’t been a transfer window that’s gone by in recent years in which Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic hasn’t been linked with a move to Juventus.
The towering Serbian international, who has haunted the Bianconeri in the past, is a rare breed of footballer. He combines an impressive physique with dazzling footwork and an imperious aerial ability to create a near-unstoppable midfielder when he’s at his best.
Milinkovic-Savic was crucial in Lazio’s improvement under Simone Inzaghi before the manager departed for Inter Milan last summer, and after spending almost seven years in Rome, all while notching 287 appearances for Lazio, has the time finally arrived for the 27-year-old to move on as well?
Juventus reportedly hold an interest in signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer
Juventus are poised to make a big splash in midfield this summer. They’ve been linked with the likes of Paul Pogba, Ryan Gravenberch and Renato Sanches since the closure of the January window, but it’s Milinkovic-Savic who’s gained the most traction as of late.
According to Calcio Mercato (via @JuveFC), the Serbian’s agent, Mateja Kezman has ‘intensified’ talks with Juventus in the last few days. Having been linked with Milinkovic-Savic for several years, it appears that the Bianconeri are finally ready to spend big and bring the Lazio star to Turin.
Transfer specialist Nicolo Schira adds that Juve boss Max Allegri and sporting director Federico Cherubini are “crazy” for Milinkovic-Savic. However, a fee in the region of €70m is expected to be required to bring Lazio to the negotiating table.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in pulling off the move.
Interestingly, Milinkovic-Savic could be brought to Old Trafford as a replacement for Pogba, who’s destined to leave the club, possibly to Juventus, at the end of the season as a free agent. Perhaps we could see Pogba to Juve, and Milinkovic-Savic to United.
The latest reports suggest that the Lazio man may well be Juventus’ priority midfield target this summer.
