Serbian-born star striker Dusan Vlahovic could leave Juventus in the January transfer window of 2023, following the club’s financial troubles and interest from Premier League outfits.

According to a claim from CBS Sports Golazo journalist Ben Jacobs, there remains a possibility for Vlahovic to seek new pastures in January, even after enjoying a strong start to his 2022/23 Serie A campaign.

Vlahovic signed for Juventus from Fiorentina on 28th January 2022, his 22nd birthday, despite a strong pursuit from Premier League outfits Arsenal.

Since putting put to paper for the Bianconeri, the no-nonsense striker has netted 16 times and has played a vital role in keeping afloat a sinking Juventus team. The club themselves await a recovery period, after enduring numerous problems that range from immature decisions from the board to managerial problems affecting gameplay.

However, despite the player’s attempts to steer the Black & White ship, Juventus are eliminated from the Champions League. Furthermore, there’s no guarantee – sat just a point ahead of fifth placed Inter – of qualification for Europe’s leading competition next season.

Such problems are fuelling rumours of a possible departure of the Serbian striker from Italy for a much potentially brighter prospect in the Premier League.

Will Vlahovic’s injury play a part?

Despite his goalscoring prowess, Vlahovic has had minor injury setbacks since joining the Old Lady.

The striker is currently enduring a long-running groin inflammation issue that has affected his gameplay, and is continuing to restrict him from achieving his full potential.

Juventus are running tests to sort out the issue as soon as possible, as this has been a persistent problem for the Serbian since his Fiorentina days.

This factor may play a part in determining Vlahovic’s January plans.

The Premier League has always been the favoured destination for emerging superstars to gain fame and enjoy a more direct type of gameplay. Arsenal came close to securing his services in 2021 but Juve were quick enough to pounce on the deal to bring the then-21-year-old to Turin.

It seems certain that the Gunners – as well as new suitors Chelsea, who are having a sticky spell with forwards – will move in for Juve’s number nine.

Juventus’ struggles mean that staying put may not be the most attractive option for someone looking to emerge as a superstar. That being said, Allegri will definitely move the club to do everything in their power to keep Vlahovic for a few more years in Turin.

While Arsenal, Chelsea and other teams with gigantic resources will always be on the prowl to secure top talents, Juve must not falter as goals win matches and our number nine is one for the present and the future.
