French midfielder Paul Pogba took some time to return to training for Juventus after suffering a meniscus injury in pre-season following his arrival from Premier League side Manchester United on a free transfer.

According to a report from Italian journalist Romeo Agresti for GOAL, Paul Pogba’s homecoming to Juventus was delayed for an unprecedented amount of time as the Frenchman was following a personalised rehabilitation programme after getting diagnosed with a lesion in his lateral meniscus of the right knee just two weeks from his arrival in Italy.

Paul Pogba has had a career full of injuries and that has taken a toll on his fitness as well as his ability to recover within a stipulated period of time.

When he thought of getting his career to end on a respectable note and attempting his last chance at Juventus, the astounding Frenchman was left baffled to learn that he had developed a lesion on the meniscus of his right knee just after joining Juventus last summer.

Why was Paul Pogba absent from Juventus training?

It can be understood that the injury Pogba suffered belongs to a more serious medical procedure than the regular setbacks encountered by football players. He was expected to return to training at the start of December but it is discovered that the midfielder had only made it to the gym and the swimming pool as he expects to recover his strength in the right leg following his surgery in September.

After the injury, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri assessed Pogba’s return to aid the Bianconeri’s campaign and the Italian manager said:

"“I’m not a doctor. What do I think? I don’t think, I have relied on what was said and the decision that was made.“Conservative therapy has been adopted, within 5-6 weeks he will be able to be in the field. You have to have confidence. That was the decision, then we’ll see if it was right or wrong.”"

Doctors in Turin expected Paul Pogba to return fully fit for the Serie A giants for the Napoli game on January 13 but recent developments suggest that it will take more than the tentative date for fans to be able to see their one-time superstar be back balling for their club.
