Weston McKennie is drawing interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League. Only one, however, has made an offer as of now.
McKennie’s name has been commonly associated with a transfer out of Turin. Recently, he has been linked to a number of teams including Chelsea and Tottenham. But, they aren’t the only teams in England interested in the American’s talent.
According to GetItalianFootballNews.com, AFC Bournemouth made an initial offer for McKennie for 40 million Euros. Juventus originally paid 18.5 millions Euros to bring him in to Turin. This could be great value for a player who may not have a spot in the midfield.
Weston McKennie has developed well as a versatile midfielder. He was also a strong player for the United States during the World Cup.
With the return of Adrien Rabiot from international duty, the growth of Nicolo Fagioli and Fabio Miretti and the looming return of Paul Pogba from injury, McKennie seems like the odd man out in a packed midfield. It would be a shame for Juventus to move on from him, but there will be few opportunities for him to find playing time over the rest of the season.
From Bournemouth’s perspective, they would be getting a young midfielder with solid potential. Bournemouth could use the infusion of talent as well considering that they are in 15th position in the Premier League and only two points ahead of relegation.
While McKennie’s talent is undeniable, it looks like his move to a team like Bournemouth would be a win-win for both clubs.
