Denis Zakaria’s loan move to Chelsea may be inching closer to becoming permanent.

According to Tuttosport and confirmed by ESPN, Juventus is closely monitoring Zakaria’s growth in the London squad. Should he continue to play first team minutes, Juventus may want to make the loan permanent. If that happens, according to the report, they could earn about 28 million Euros for the transfer.

Zakaria has only lasted a short time in Turin. He joined the club in January of 2022 from Borussia Monchengladbach. While Zakaria scored in his debut for the club, his playing time declined drastically. In September, Juventus sent the Swiss midfielder to London on loan.

While he didn’t get a lot of playing time before the World Cup break, Zakaria has earned a place in the starting 11 for the last two Premier League matches. If those selections continue, Chelsea may be interested in keeping him instead of sending him back to Turin.

Denis Zakaria’s permanent transfer would be a win-win for both Juventus and Chelsea since Juventus won’t have a spot for him in the midfield.

Juventus currently has a number of options in the midfield that would make it hard for Zakaria to find playing time. With Adrien Rabiot, Weston McKennie, the eventual return of Paul Pogba and the development of Nicolo Fagioli and Fabio Miretti, there is no real place for Zakaria. The money that comes from the transfer could help the team solidify a couple of positions over the summer like wing backs and potentially another attacker should Dusan Vlahovic leave.

On the other side Chelsea needs to rebuild their midfield. They have struggled with consistent play and injuries over the course of the season. Zakaria is a young, talented player who could really help solidify Chelsea’s midfield. The 28 million price tag is not an absurd amount for a player of Zakaria’s talent.

Next. Juventus should earn three points against Cremonese. dark
