The day has finally arrived: Serie A returns today and Juventus is back in action.

Football finally returns in Italy with a number of notable matchups and teams that are trying to strengthen their position on the table. Juventus will be looking to pick up where they left off before the World Cup break.

In those matches before the season paused, Juventus had strung together a number of quality victories. They also put together solid performances in their friendly warm-ups over the past few weeks. The Bianconeri want to keep that momentum going against Cremonese.

Juve currently sits at 3rd in the table. The team needs to take advantage of any opportunity they have to gain ground on league leaders Napoli. Napoli is sitting in first with 41 points making them 10 points clear of the Bianconeri. Napoli plays Inter Milan this afternoon. If they drop points, Juve could close the gap a bit and stay in the running for the Scudetto.

Juventus has some problems to deal with including injuries and unavailable players, but they should be able to win this match.

Without the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Angel di Maria and Paul Pogba, Juve is missing a number of their top players in this match. Yet, the return of Federico Chiesa and the strength of the midfield should be enough to get them through the game without significant complications.

Cremonese is a struggling side that has only been able to put up 7 points in the year. There isn’t a legitimate goal-scoring threat on the team and they have few players that invoke fear in opponents. They shouldn’t be overlooked by any means, but Juventus, on paper, is the more talented squad.

Score Prediction: Considering the gulf in talent between the two sides, Juventus should put together a good showing in this match. Juventus has never lost to Cremonese and I doubt that changes (per FBref.com).
