Juventus’ roster revamp continues this summer. The Bianconeri are going to be listening to offers on many of their top players. That includes quality first-teamers Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic.
According to Football Italia, Juventus has lost around €200 million over the last two seasons. Sporting Director Cristiano Guintoli needs to recover those losses. In a press conference recently, Guintoli mentioned that players like Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa are key to Juve’s season. Yet, he also claimed that they will listen to offers for the pair because he has to “balance the books.”
This is not the most surprising take. Many have predicted that some of Juve’s top players would leave this summer considering the financial state of the club. It is unfortunate that Juve’s top attackers are both wrapped up in this conversation.
While it certainly makes sense to listen to offers for Chiesa and Vlahovic, selling both of them this summer would set Juventus back in its attacking gameplan.
Chiesa and Vlahovic are some of the more creative attacking players on the roster. Even though he struggled in the second half of the season, Vlahovic is a strong player in front of goal who is capable of scoring 25-30 goals a season. On the wing, Chiesa is a dynamic playmaker whose speed on the outside and ability to cut inside are dangerous qualities.
Both of these players are crucial to Juve’s bid for the Scudetto next season. Losing both of them would severely hurt Juve’s chances at the title and. It could also hurt their chances of getting back into Champions League football.
It would make sense for Juventus to sell one of them. This could help them make up for the losses they have accrued. Filling one void is possible and Juventus should do its best to keep one of these players on the roster next season.
