Wojciech Szczesny is on Bayern Munich’s keeper shortlist
By Nick Belotto
There have been many names associated with a move either to or from Turin this summer. Wojciech Szczesny just made the list.
According to multiple reports, Bayern Munich is contemplating a move for Wojciech Szczesny. Bayern’s first-team keeper, Manuel Neuer, is injured and the club is looking at Szczesny as an option to fill in until Neuer is healthy.
Of course, Szczesny would have to agree to a move out of Turin before anything gets finalized. It also sounds like Bayern has a number of names on their keeper shortlist so there is no need for Juve fans to panic just yet.
Szczesny joined the club in 2017 as the heir apparent to Juve legend Gigi Buffon. After Buffon left the club in 2018, Szczesny stepped in as the first team keeper. Since then, he has been an outstanding player between the posts.
Wojciech Szczesny is a talented player for the club and one of the better keepers in the world. Juventus should do everything to keep him on the roster.
There are certainly no guarantees that any player will remain with a club during the transfer season. Yet, Juve selling Szczesny this season would be a mistake.
Szczesny is a talented player and one of the top players in the world at his position. There are few players out there that could replace him and be considered an upgrade or even at the same level. The other keepers on the roster, Carlo Pinsoglio and Mattia Perin, aren’t capable of shouldering first-team minutes on a consistent basis.
It would make sense, barring an insane offer, that Juve hold on to Szczesny. In doing so, they would be keeping their keeper position secured for a long time.
