Araujo came close to switching from Barcelona for the Turin titans in January, while Garcia is of new interest and could arrive on loan from Real.

After negotiations with Juve fell through to try and lure Uruguay international Araujo away from the Nou Camp, the 26-year-old center-back signed a new contract with the Catalans until June 2031.

After negotiations with Juve fell through to try and lure Uruguay international Araujo away from the Nou Camp, the 26-year-old center-back signed a new contract with the Catalans until June 2031.

His deal includes a release clause that is only valid for the first two weeks of the summer transfer window, with a set price tag of €65 million (US$73.8m).

Barcelona are expected to allow the ball playing defender to leave in the summer if their asking price is met. Yet Juventus will have to act fast, as Bayern Munich and Chelsea have just picked up the pace about signing Araujo.

Massive profit

It would be a massive profit for Barca, who bagged him for a bargain €4.7m (US$5.3m) from CA Boston River in his native country seven years ago.

As the Bianconeri would find it tough to finance a deal for the Barcelona ace if they don’t secure Champions League qualification, they have a back-up plan of signing Garcia to bolster their backline.

Juventus are exploring a loan move for Spanish left-back Garcia, as a potential alternative to Club Brugge’s Maxim De Cuyper. The Belgium international is being monitored by AC Milan, Juve, Manchester United and RB Leipzig.

Garcia, who could fulfil a left-sided role for the Bianconeri should Andrea Cambiaso be tempted to leave for Liverpool or Manchester City, is available to buy. Yet Juve are likely to push for a loan without a conditional obligation to buy.

Decisions delayed

All transfer decisions are on hold because of the uncertainty around the next permanent Juve manager, and their potential involvement in the Champions League.

There’s no developments on who will be appointed head coach next term, although Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini is favorite slightly ahead of Igor Tudor being promoted from his role as interim head coach.

The primary reason for having to play the waiting game is that Juventus are fiercely fighting for a top four finish in Serie A, which is required to earn a Champions League berth next season.

Tudor’s nine-game league deal will only be extended if the ex-Juventus defender can steer the Bianconeri into Europe’s leading club competition.

Failure to do so means Tudor will probably leave, and under pressure Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli could follow suit.
