Although at least one striker is urgently required by Juve to tackle the 2025/26 campaign, especially as there’s uncertainty around Dusan Vlahovic’s future, the club are persistently looking at defensive reinforcements.
A pair of right-backs have been added to Juve’s summer wishlist in the shape of Fiorentina’s Dodo and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro.
Dodo, 26, has yet to represent Brazil at senior level and seems very content plying his trade in Florence. His deal expires in June 2027, but he has recently hinted that he would like to spend the rest of his career at the club.
Yet contract extension negotiations have been put on hold, because his head has been turned by the keen interest from both Barcelona and Juve.
€75 million for the pair
He has also attracted a plethora of admirers across Europe as he has been such a pivotal player for Fiorentina this term. Dodo’s price tag would be €25 million (US28.4m).
Juventus would have to pay twice that amount to secure the signature of Porro from Premier League strugglers Spurs. Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Real Madrid are also showing serious interest in a player who has been an ever present this season.
Spurs, like many Premier League clubs, may need to let Porro leave to adhere to the English top-flight’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. These rules dictate how much a team can spend based on their generated income.
Porro kicked off his career in England with Manchester City after arriving from their Spanish feeder club Girona in 2019. After failing to make a first team breakthrough he was loaned out to Real Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon.
He was sold to Portugal giants Sporting in 2022, but returned to the English top tier the following year when ex-Juventus boss Antonio Conte was head coach at Tottenham.
Plan B Porro for the Galaticos
Spaniard Porro has been brilliant for Ange Postecoglou’s outfit during Spurs’ stuttering season, and has returned to the attention of Real Madrid. The Spanish titans originally chose to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer over 25-year-old Porro.
Yet Liverpool’s England international is expected to turn down the Galaticos to stay with the runaway Premier League leaders, which brings Real back into the equation.
Juventus will need to up their game if they are going to try and attract top class players to Turin. They have five games remaining to make the cut for Champions League soccer next season, with only a top four finish in Serie A good enough.
Juve’s interim manager Igor Tudor tasted his first defeat in four games at the helm, a tame 1-0 reversal to relegation candidates Parma, which leaves the Bianconeri in fifth place.
The side are sandwiched between Bologna in fourth, trailing by one point, and lie above Lazio in sixth courtesy of superior goal difference.
Juventus tackle both of these sides in May, with both results set to determine their season, whether Tudor has a future at the club, and ultimately which players can be coaxed to the club this summer.
