Center-back Djalo is training separately from the senior squad while investigations are undertaken. With Portuguese newspaper A Bola claiming that the 25-year-old could be immediately sent back to the Turin titans.
He has been underutilized in the Primeira Liga by Porto, who are way off the pace to win the Portuguese top tier this term, with just six starts and two substitute appearances.
Djalo made a switch from Juve on the final day of the summer transfer window. His loan agreement is without an option to purchase.
Following Pepe
There was initial excitement at Porto, because he was given the no3 jersey previously worn at the club by legendary Portugal ace Pepe.
He was one of four Porto players disciplined for breaking the club’s rules by attending a team-mate’s birthday party on Easter Sunday until 4am the following day.
Djalo had already angered Porto after he travelled to Madrid for New Year’s Eve, despite reporting for the morning training session on 1 January. That issue was swiftly smoothed over, but his latest club violation could result in his loan terminated before the end of the season.
Porto have shown no interest in converting Djalo’s loan into a permanent deal, while he appears surplus to requirements at Juve.
Potential suitors
It appears that the Bianconeri will be actively seeking to offload him in the summer, with Crystal Palace and Inter Milan deemed potential suitors.
There was serious talk during the winter transfer window that Djalo would cut short his loan spell at Porto, in order to make a move to Crystal Palace.
Head coach Oliver Glasner could contemplate revisiting a deal, although the 50-year-old Austrian is on the radar of both Germany’s RB Leipzig and Palace’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Inter were scuppered by Juventus, who forked out €3.6million (US$4.1m) to Lille in January 2024 for Djalo. His contract with the French outfit was set to expire last June.
Yet he was not bedded in by former head coach Max Allegri, as the Bianconeri had a settled defensive pillar. Djalo also failed to impress Thiago Motta, and it is believed that Djalo might not quickly adapt to Igor Tudor’s tactical system.
Although Djalo does have two chances to prove his worth at Juve. He may be given a shot if Federico Gatti decides to leave, and he may fit into the plans of whoever is unveiled as the next permanent Juventus manager.
