With the Bianconeri’s summer revamp desperate for a lethal marksman, especially with the uncertainty surrounding center forward Dusan Vlahovic, the name of a previous target has cropped up.

Juventus consider Samu Aghehowa as an ideal candidate to fill the gap in their attacking unit should they offload Arkadiusz Milik, Samuel Mbangula, Vlahovic and Timothy Weah after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Cup World Cup exploits

Aghehowa was a shining star for FC Porto during their Club World Cup campaign, bagging two goals in his three appearances. This followed on from his impressive displays in Portugal Liga, having scored 19 goals in 30 outings.

During the winter transfer window he was linked with Aston Villa, who were put off by his €100 million (US$117.6m) price tag.

Porto have halved their asking price, which has renewed Villa’s attention with Premier League outfits Manchester United and Newcastle United also showing keen interest.

Juve have joined the list of admirers, but are waiting on the future of Vlahovic as well as their hopes of signing Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.

Fast tracked to the big time

Aghehowa rose through the ranks of Granada in La Liga before being poached by Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2023. He enjoyed a highly successful loan stint at Alaves and was up for grabs at €20m (US$23.5m) last August.

It became a three-club chase to land his signature, with Porto beating Juventus and Napoli.

Although Porto are in no hurry to sell him, should a top team table a sizeable bid the Portuguese giants could be tempted to make a healthy profit.
