The French international is savouring life in Serie A, with his pair of goals enough to deny the battling hosts a deserved draw on Friday night.
With Muani opening the scoring on 34 minutes, with an exhilarating thunderbolt that whistled over the ‘keeper’s head. Relegation-threatened Como, who bossed the initial 30 minutes, snatched a lead in first-half stoppage time when Juve were caught napping.
A dull second-half followed, but there was some last-gasp drama. Juventus were awarded a controversial penalty after shotstopper Jean Butez injured Federico Gatti when punching the ball away. Muani stepped up to slot home the 89th-minute spot-kick.
Como were denied in added time when Alberto Dossena's hit the crossbar, with Muani's double enough to seal the Bianconeri maximum points.
Old Juve’s Player Ratings
Starting XI:
Michele Di Gregorio – 8
Busy contest, and kept on his toes during the opening exchanges in each half. Managed some impressive saves, but conceded an equaliser when Juve were caught napping.
Timothy Weah – 7.5
Although the US international was employed at right-back, the small pitch suited his darting runs. Although he was constantly under pressure.
Federico Gatti – 8
Turned on the style at every opportunity. His bravery in the dying minutes saw him take a punch in the face, which earned the Bianconeri a crucial spot-kick.
Renato Veiga – 7.5
The Chelsea loanee seemed more comfortable on the ball than his debut against Empoli, and should be a regular starter for the rest of the season.
Nicolo Savona – 5
Como’s Gabriel Strefezza gave him such a runaround that Savona was hauled after 45 minutes, replaced by loanee Lloyd Kelly.
Teun Koopmeiners – 5.5
Not his best display for Juve, and sat close to the defence. Was at fault for Como’s equaliser by slipping under pressure. Douglas Luiz was a straight swap on 61 minutes.
Manuel Locatelli – 7.5
The quick-thinking midfielder was his usual commanding self, and constantly played in long balls. Made way for Khephren Thuram on 61 minutes.
Weston McKennie – 7.5
Put in an impressive shift that was bursting with energy. Utilised defensively, where he happily won back possession.
Kenan Yildiz – 7
The teenage no10, preferred to Dusan Vlahovic, sat off the shoulder of Kolo Muani. Confused Como with some daring runs before being replaced by Samuel Mbangula on 67 minutes.
Nicolas Gonzalez – 8
With pace and agility, the left-footer was a thorn in Como’s side. Dribbling skills were again in his armoury, but wayward finishing meant Francisco Conceicao took his place on 76 minutes.
Kolo Muani – 9 (Old Juve Man of the Match)
Caught offside a couple of times, but his unstoppable shot that opened the scoring was sublime. Coolly sent ‘keeper Jean Buzet the wrong way with a late penalty.
Substitutes:
Lloyd Kelly – 7
No issues in finding his feet to comfortably slot into the Juve team for the entire second half.
Douglas Luiz – 6
Could have added a bit more creativity after being given minutes to show his silky skills, did have one shot blocked.
Khephren Thuram – 7
Kept busy, and played a pivotal role during a lacklustre second-half that only came to life with the last-gasp spot-kick.
Samuel Mbangula – 7
The enthusiastic 21-year-old was happy to become an attacking threat on the right flank, but was unable to set up another goal.
Francisco Conceicao – 5.5
Quiet display, and was unable to notch a stoppage-time goal like he had achieved against Empoli in his previous outing.
