The league were in cruise control, leading 4-0 at the interval and polishing off an impressive victory inside at the Centro Sportivo Vismara in Milan.

Cristiana Girelli's clinical header broke the deadlock on 25 minutes and within seconds Lisa Boattin doubled Juve's lead, steering the ball into an empty net following a neat exchange between Sofia Cantore and Barbara Bonansea.

Girelli slotted home a penalty on 31 minutes and grabbed her hat-trick with a header eight minutes later as Juventus ran riot.

Milan made substitutions in a bid to shore up the defence and it took two late strikes to hand Juventus a flattering result.

Valentina Bergamaschi made it 5-0 on 88 minutes, taking advantage of calamitous defending, but refused to celebrate against her old club. Amelie Vangsgaard made it six of the best with her thunderous 93th-minute goal from the edge of the box.

With the 18-game Serie A regular season completed, the top five teams in the table now move into the Scudetto pool for the Championship phase. The post-split Serie A Femminile fixtures will run from 1 March until 18 May..

Juventus will tackle AC Milan, Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Roma both home and away to decide this season’s winners. Points will be carried over from the 18 matches, which puts Juve in a stong position in their chase for a sixth Scudetto.
