Inter exile linked with switch to Juve and AS Roma

Davide Frattesi, who has fallen out of favour this season under Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi, is rumoured to be wanted by Juventus.

The former Sassuolo midfielder warmed the bench in Inter’s 1-0 Derby D’Italia defeat in Turin on Sunday. This meant that Juve manager Thiago Motta didn’t get to see the Italy international’s silky skills first hand.

Frattesi was not permitted to make a move away from the San Siro last month, because the club didn’t want to disrupt their Champions League squad.

Yet with the 25-year-old having fallen down the pecking order, Inter are bracing themselves for his potential departure during the summer.

AS Roma are expected to renew their interest in Frattesi following their overtures during the January transfer window, while things have cooled with Napoli signing him due to lack of playing time.

Frattesi was born and raised in the capital, where he played for the AS Roma and Lazio youth teams, before joining Sassuolo in 2017.

While at Sassuolo he was constantly loaned out. His July 2023 season-long loan to Inter included an obligation to buy, and he soon became a fans favourite after scoring his maiden goal for the Nerazzurri in their 5-1 triumph over AC Milan.

The attacking prowess and physical attributes of Frattesi has seen him bag eight goals in 25 international matches, while at club level he’s only managed four strikes this term but has started just five times with 15 substitute appearances.

Although he would be an asset under Motta, Juve’s summer interest in Frattesi will depend on whether Teun Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz have established themselves in the heart of midfield or whether they will leave the Turin giants.
