Tiago Djalo, who has only featured five times this season on loan at FC Porto, is attracting interest from English Premier League (EPL) side Crystal Palace.

The Portuguese center-back, who joined Juventus from Lille a year ago, was not bedded in by former head coach Massimiliano Allegri as he had a settled defensive pillar.

He has also failed to impress new boss Thiago Motta, and although the 42-year-old has been strengthening his defensive backline, it is believed that Djalo might not quickly adapt to his system.

Yet Djalo could return in the summer, having honed his skills on loan, and become a fit for Motta. That’s if Motta remains in charge as the club explores back-up plans.

The Bianconeri may be forced to recall the defender that they forked out €3.6million (US$3.75m) in order for him to further develop his career.

Djalo, who is being underutilised in the Portuguese top flight, would need to cut short his loan spell before a potential move to Crystal Palace could be contemplated.

Palace have hit a recent right vein of form under head coach Oliver Glasner, following a poor start to the EPL.

The club are urgently aiming to bring in a defensive loanee during the transfer window, following Trevoh Chalobah’s return to Chelsea from his loan and Chadi Riad’s recent ACL injury.

Djalo was snapped up by Juventus. The agreement scuppered Inter Milan’s plans to sign the defender on a freebie, when his contract in France expired at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

He has a deal with Juventus until summer 2026, with a clause for a possible two-year extension. Although he doesn’t feature in the short-term plans with the Turin giants, Djalo could become a pivotal player for the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.
