Juventus expected to raid relegated Empoli for cut-price trio

With Empoli losing their top-flight status on the last day of the Italian soccer season, there could be a mass exodus.

Juve showed interest in a pair of Empoli players when Thiago Motta was boss, and Empoli skipper Ardian Ismajli is now also on their radar.

With Empoli dropping to Serie B next term after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Hellas Verona in the final Serie A matches of the season on Sunday, head coach Roberto D'Aversa will anticipate losing some of his best players.

Juventus have been long-term admirers of the Empoli pair Tino Anjorin and Saba Goglichidze. The Bianconeri have joined Inter Milan and Napoli in showing serious interest in Albania international Ismajli.

Motta marked out targets

Midfielder Anjorin and defender Goglichidze were singled out by Motta for a potential summer switch to Juventus.

Former Chelsea player Anjorin can be utilized as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing. Atalanta, Torino and German club RB Leipzig are rivalling Juventus for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Georgian international center-back Goglichidze was considered as a back-up plan should the loan for Kevin Danso from Lens fail. Danso failed his medical at Juventus, and instead joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan with an obligation to buy.

Atalanta and Inter Milan have also been heavily linked with signing 20-year-old Goglichidze.

Coaxed by Champions League

Ismajli could be lured by the prospect of Champions League soccer next term, favoring a summer move to either Juve and Napoli.

The Kosovo-born center-back, who can also be implemented at right-back, has played over a century of matches for Empoli since joining from Spezia for €2.5 million (US$2.8m) before the 2021/22 campaign.

After four seasons with Empoli, the 28-year-old could finally be elevated to a top Italian team.

All three Empoli players are valued around the €6m to €8m mark (US$6.8m to US$9.1m). As the club have dropped a division then reasonable offers could be contemplated, meaning that Juventus may be able to pick a bargain buy or three.
