The reason why fans will be seeing red on Serie A stars is because of clubs helping to raise awareness for the Un Rosso alla Violenza (a red to violence) campaign, which wants an end to physical and psychological abuse towards women across Italy.
Serie A, who are supporting this cause, provided some shocking statistics about violence against ladies in Italy. A third of women in the country, around seven million, have reported that they suffered some form of harassment or violence by men.
The figures revealed that 111 ladies were murdered in Italy last year, with 96 of those who sadly lost their lives having been killed by someone close to them. This year there are similar numbers of women murdered across Italy, with 73 reported deaths from January to September 2025.
Serie A supports anti-violence campaign
Ezio Simonelli, appointed Serie A president last December, explained in a statement: “Serie A renews its commitment to supporting female victims of violence and once again stands by their side to combat all forms of violence and abuse towards women.
“The red mark that will be painted on the players’ and referees’ faces is not just a symbol, but it testifies the league’s desire to keep the focus on an unacceptable phenomenon in today’s society.”
Juventus fans will witness their favorite players with a splash of color on their face for today's Serie A clash at Fiorentina, who prop up the table with zero wins from 11 matches.
There tends to be a series of shock results in the top tier across the globe following the enforced FIFA international break, as the momentum is lost and lesser teams frequently have only a handful of players away on international duty.
Fiorentina have former Torino manager Paolo Vanoli at the helm for the visit of the Bianconeri, which is a tough task for his opening game as boss. Juventus reject Moise Kean is expected to be back for the hosts following his recent injury, and the striker knows many of the Juve players from his time with the Turin titans.
Tricky decision for Juve's Spalletti
Juventus have problems upfront with Serbia star Dusan Vlahovic expected to remain on the bench following a recent knock. That means recently-installed Bianconeri head coach Luciano Spalletti needs to choose between his out-of-form attacking duo Jonathan David and Lois Openda.
As Spalletti is anticipated to tweak his tactical approach, Turkish talent Kenan Yildiz could be employed as a false no9 or released as a no10 rather than being a whizzy winger.
The 20-year-old, who is in contract chaos as Juventus, is being closely monitored by a plethora of European giants for a potential winter transfer. Premier League leaders Arsenal are the latest club to be in talks with Yildiz's super agent Jorge Mendes.
