Juve’s summer transfer dealings have been in turmoil because of their financial plight, with head coach Igor Tudor happy to offload some of the squad members he inherited.

Central midfielder Weston McKennie has witnessed his United States team-mate Timothy Weah move on a season-long loan to Olympique Marseille, and finds himself on the market for €25 million (US$29m).

McKennie’s contract expires next summer, but negotiations to extend his deal with the Italian giants have stalled because of high agent commission demands.

The change in the club's management means that Juventus are more frugal than they were when Cristiano Guintoli was sporting director and happily splashed the cash.

The Bianconeri are still trying to offload players to raise funds to bring in new faces, with the ongoing saga to sell high-earning duo Douglas Luiz and Dusan Vlahovic.

Others are up for grabs at high transfer prices, including World Cup-winning right winger Nicolas Gonzalez.

Top-flight move contemplated

McKennie’s representatives are eyeing up a summer move. Although he savors life in Italy and has been outstanding in Serie A, his agents are exploring a switch to the German Bundlesliga, Premier League and Turkish Super Lig as well as potentially joining one of Juve’s rivals.

A move to the US to compete in the MLS is another attractive proposition, which could enhance his international selection chances ahead of next year's FIFA World Cup finals.

Juventus will not want to miss out on cashing in on the 26-year-old, who is one of Tudor’s preferred players, with AS Roma heavily linked to swoop.

Although Juventus prefer money for McKennie, they are open to a possible swap deal with Roma that would see defensive midfielder Bryan Cristante arrive in Turin.

Texas background helps McKennie

McKennie's shared Texan roots with the Friedkin family, the Roma owners, could influence a switch to the Giallorossi.

Strengthening Juve’s midfield, which Tudor has requested to the club hierarchy, is a must to ensure that they are competitive in both Serie A and Champions League action.

Juventus were surprisingly exceptional in midfield during Sunday’s 2-1 triumph at Borussia Dortmund, a far cry from their disorganized display behind closed doors when they were held 2-2 by Serie B minnows AC Reggiana
