With injuries hitting crisis points at times during the nine-month Project Motta disaster, Juventus are aiming to tackle next season with a different approach.

Turin-born Pintus first worked at Juventus as a fitness coach under manager Marcello Lippi. During his first spell the side lifted the 1996 Champions League and won the Serie A titles in 1996/97 and 1997/98.

The 62-year-old returned for a second stint at Juve, as a conditioning coach for the 2006/2007 campaign under Didier Deschamps. The club tackled their inaugural season in Serie B, having been relegated following the Calciopoli scandal.

Thanks to Alessandro Del Piero’s 20 goals, Juventus were crowned Serie B champions to return to the Italian top tier.

Pintus has been a journeyman, having worked in the English Premier League, Ligue 1 in France, for Inter Milan, Juve, Palermo and Udinese in Serie A as well as La Liga with Real Madrid.

Chaotic times at Real Madrid

Real Madrid, who were thumped 3-0 at Arsenal in their Champions League quarter-final first leg last week and are off the pace of La Liga leaders Barcelona, seem to be in disarray by their own high standards.

Summer changes across the club are anticipated that includes the coach, playing squad and other pivotal figures like Pintus.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is an avid fan of Pintus and his fitness programme, but a new manager next term could mean that he is surplus to requirements.

Carlos Ancelotti is under increasing pressure, with Xabi Alonso, Andono Iraola and Zinedine Zidane the most realistic potential replacements.

Defection to Serie A

Pintus could jump ship to rejoin Juventus have shown interest in appointing or the upcoming season to oversee their squad’s physical conditioning.

However, it remains unknown who will lead the Bianconeri for the 2025/26 campaign although Igor Tudor is in pole position having extended his unbeaten run to three matches.

Tudor, back at Juve for a third time, has only managed to mastermind four goals in his trio of Serie A games. He has looked at tweaking his tactics, in a bid to get the best out of his plethora of attacking talents including Kenan Yildiz.

Dusan Vlahovic, Tudor’s favorite striker in the Italian top-flight, has yet to score for the interim boss. Yet he set up both goals for the tense 2-1 triumph over relegation-threatened Lecce on Saturday night.
