Juventus overcame an early scare against Empoli to run out 4-1 victors inside the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Mattia de Sciglio put the Empoli ahead on four minutes and Thiago Motta's men were under the cosh until they turned things around with a second-half haul of four goals.

Paris Saint-Germain loanee Kolo Muani scored a rapid-fire brace to earn Juve the lead. Youssef Maleh was sent off for a second yellow card, which opened the floodgates with forwards Dusan Vlahovic and Francisco Conceicao each grabbing a late goal.

Old Juve’s Player Ratings

Michele Di Gregorio - 5.5

Should have done better to stop Di Sciglio’s crouched header from six yards. Was fortunate that VAR ruled out a penalty after he took out Maleh as he met Sebastiano Esposito's slide-rule pass in the first half.

Nicolo Savona - 6.5

Out of position at left-back, Savona dug in and did a job. Kept Emmanuel Gyasi at bay and offered support for Kenan Yildiz going forward.

Federico Gatti - 7

Had his work cut out to deal with the Empoli front line of Esposito and Lorenzo Colombo, but came out on top in pretty much every face-off.

Renato Veiga - 6.5

Veiga, on loan from Chelsea, showed nerves early into his debut. Did well to get his foot in the way of Columbo's angled drive from the edge of the area at 2-1. Charged down Liberato Cacace and starting the counterattack that resulted in Maleh's second yellow.

Timothy Weah - 6.5

With Juve stretched for numbers at the back, Weah was shunted to right-back. He was unfortunate to leave with an assist instead of a goal after his rocket of a shot deflected off Muani and into the back of the net.

Manuel Locatelli - 6

The skipper endured a rough start, but did find his groove. Marshalled the center of the pitch to ensure there was no way back for battling Empoli.

Weston McKennie - 5.5

He ran tirelessly for the whole match. Wasteful whenever he had the ball at his feet though. Juventus moved up a gear when McKennie and Nico Gonzalez were substituted.

Kenan Yildiz - 7.5

One of the rare pass marks in the opening half, Yildiz caused havoc for Empoli throughout the game. Yildiz was key to the second goal, pulling off a jaw-dropping ruleta to dribble past two players in the lead-up.

Teun Koopmeiners - 5.5

He continues to struggle to live up to his summer hype, with another limp performance. Forced into a slightly deeper role, but found it difficult to make himself visible. Almost snatched an equaliser.

Nico Gonzalez - 6.5

A decent turn on the right wing. Denied making the scoresheet when his Empoli 'keeper Devis Vasquez palmed over his spectacular overhead kick.

Kolo Muani - 8.5 (Old Juve Man of the Match)

Continued his good form after scoring last week against Napoli. Two goals in three minutes turned the tide against Empoli. Helped make Juve a much slicker prospect going forward, even when moved to the left wing after Dusan Vlahovic came on..

Substitutes:

Dusan Vlahovic - 7

Replaced Yildiz and grabbed a goal. Despite having three players in support, Vlahovic indulged his selfish side and took the shot himself to make it 3-1 on 90 minutes.

Francisco Conceicao - 7

Made the most of his cameo, on for McKennie, by grabbing a goal in added time. Despite gunning at full speed down the wing, Conceicao kept his cool and slotted home in clinical fashion.

Khephren Thuram - 6.5

His five-minute impact, on for Gonzalez, saw him assist Conceicao’s goal with a pinpoint pass for the fourth and final goal.
