Madrid teams in mix for Juventus interest

With uncertainty surrounding the future of numerous Juventus defenders, including Italy internationals Andrea Cambiaso and Federico Gatti, the club have prepared an extensive list of potential replacements.

Fiorentina center-back Pietro Comuzzo got his first international call-up to the Italy squad last November, and has been scouted by Manchester United ever since. Although Juve have reignited their interest in the 20-year-old.

There’s a Spanish theme related to the Bianconeri. Atletico Madrid have upped their interest in Juventus target David Hancko, while Fran Garcia is being monitored by the Turin titans.

Slovakia center-back

Atletico’s long-serving head coach Diego Simeone has been an admirer of Hancko for some time, with the Slovakia center-back on the club’s shopping list during previous transfer windows.

Feyenoord are expected to cash in on Hancko, valued at €50 million (US$55m), as his contract expires in June 2028.

Atletico and Juventus are the only clubs outside the Premier League that have shown serious interest. Potential destinations in England include Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Spain left-back

While Juve chew over whether they wish to table a bid for Dutch Eredivisie ace Hancko, Real Madrid left-back Garcia is available for around half the price.

A €25m (US$27.5m) offer from the Bianconeri for Garcia could be tempting. He came off the bench for the last 10 minutes in Real’s humiliating Champions League 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Tuesday.

The twice-capped Spanish international came through the youth and B team at Real, and when he was sent on loan to Rayo Vallecano helped them achieve promotion to La Liga.

Garcia's impressive performances in the Spanish second tier earned a permanent move from Madrid, and his former club swooped to re-sign him in June 2023 on a four-year deal.

Yet Garcia may not be up for grabs, as he has been an integral part of manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans with over 100 appearances over the past two seasons. Juve will be attempting to bag a bargain if he is available from Real.
