The center-back, who finished on the losing side as Fulham toppled hosts Newcastle 2-1 yesterday, has long been admired by Juve boss Thiago Motta.
Yet Motta has Georgian international Saba Goglichidze on his radar, and can watch the Empoli defender first hand today.
With speculation that Juventus will sign one more central defender before the transfer window slams shut, there are rumours across the Italian media that Kelly will join the Bianconeri on loan before the 3 February transfer deadline.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe, who recently allowed outcast Miguel Almiron to join Atlanta United, was adamant that the club weren’t looking to sell any more players.
Howe told the press conference before the Fulham defeat: “As we stand at the moment, I expect the squad to remain the same [after the transfer deadline].”
Yet it could be a very shrewd deal for Newcastle as Kelly’s performances this term mean that his price tag is €15 million (US$15.55m). This seems high considering that he could have opted for the Turin giants last year on a freebie.
Kelly only joined up with his former boss Howe on a free transfer in the summer from AFC Bournemouth, despite interest from other clubs including Juventus.
