Juventus are just off the pace in Serie A to earn an automatic place into the highly-lucrative 2025/26 Champions League, after they were downed by Mateo Pellegrino’s first-half stoppage time winner.

Parma manager Cristian Chivu, who only kicked off his senior coaching career in late February, outwitted ex-Juve defender Tudor in a fascinating yet dull game.

Juventus failed to ever get out of their starting blocks, and the only aspect that they were superior to their relegation-threatened opponents was possession. Forward Dusan Vlahovic managed two shots, both blocked, before he was subbed at half-time because of a thigh injury.

Striker Kolo Muani made his first start since Tudor took over, but failed to impress, while Turkish attacker Kenan Yildiz was introduced just before the hour-mark although made little impact.

Old Juve player ratings for Parma vs Juventus:

Michele Di Gregorio – 6

Underutilized in a contest of very few scoring chances. Was not to blame for being beaten by Pellegrino's header in the box that nestled in the top right corner.

Pierre Kalulu – 7 (Old Juve Man of the Match)

One of only a handful of players who returned to Turin having put a workmanlike shift in. Implemented by Tudor's tactics among three central defenders, he was solid at the back and enthusiastically pressed forward.

Renato Veiga – 6

Ever-improving with a well-controlled display to deny the constant danger from burly forward Ange Yoan-Bonny. Chelsea seem keen to have him back from loan to sell to one of Juve's Serie A rivals.

Lloyd Kelly – 4

Composed for the majority of the match, but was at fault in the build-up that led to unmarked Pellegrino to head home from close range.

Weston McKennie – 4

His night in Parma was one to forget. Kicked off as a wing-back but caused no worries to the hosts. Was yanked off early in the second half.

Khephren Thuram – 5

Managed to help the visitors maintain the lion's share of possession in midfield. Lacked any creativity to help set up scoring chances.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

Tudor's choice as skipper led by example through sheer determination, but he was starting to let the situation of trailing get the better of him. Replaced in the dying stages.

Andrea Cambiaso – 5

Looked lost at times. He was unable to inject any much-needed creative spark to get the lackluster attack moving.

Nicolas Gonzalez – 5

Although he managed to win the majority of his duels, his attacking contribution was pretty poor against average opposition.

Kolo Muani – 6

Possessed energy but he didn't produce anything notable. Has not found the back of the net since his amazing burst of five Serie A strikes in three games.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6

Was not the livewire he could be, although had a couple of efforts blocked. A thigh injury ended his involvement, and his attacking presence was missed in the second half.

Substitutes

Francisco Conceicao – 7

The FC Porto loanee made the most of his second-half appearance for Vlahovic. Sharper shooting skills would made it a spectacular display.

Kenan Yildiz – 6

Showed his silky skills from the start to nutmeg two defenders and send in a cross. But made little impact after that, and did not look sharp following his week-long impact injury.

Alberto Costa – N/A (86th-minute substitute)

Douglas Luiz – N/A (86th-minute substitute)

Timothy Weah – N/A (86th-minute substitute)
