Juventus eye £40M obligation purchase loan for Manchester United star, report says
By Eduardo Razo
The future of Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho remains uncertain as the 24-year-old’s name is in the transfer rumor mill. Juventus have entered the race for the Englishman and already are plotting an offer for the player, per a report.
Sancho spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he played a role in the German club reaching the UEFA Champions League final. Despite losing the final to Real Madrid, Sancho appeared to rediscover his past form.
Nonetheless, the winger would return to the Red Devils and participate in their summer tour in the United States. However, now that the 2024-25 season is underway, Sancho wasn’t on the squad for Erik ten Hag and his team’s 1-0 win over Fulham on August 16th.
Amid Sancho’s potential exit before the summer transfer window closes in a couple of days, Juventus could be making a surprise move for the Manchester United standout.
What are Juventus willing to offer for Sancho?
Journalist Gianluca DiMarzio reported on Thursday that Juventus are looking for wingers, and along with Nico González, they are also considering Sancho again.
Moreover, DiMarzio reveals that the Serie A club are thinking about a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option set at £40 million under certain conditions. However, his €20 million gross salary is a significant hurdle.
Manchester United play on Saturday against Brighton & Hove Albion and the question heading into this match is whether Sancho will be part of the squad. Ten Hag spoke about whether the winger will be part of the squad for the contest and the Dutchman was not willing to commit to anything.
“We will see,” ten Hag told reporters (h/t The Guardian). “We have a squad and I hope we will have a squad with double positioning and when we go into the season after 1 September, that means also you can’t select all the players for a game.
“But you need them all throughout the season because this season will be the survival of the fittest. The attitude of the players is very important, sometimes they will be disappointed, but they have to deal with it.
“You don’t win with 11 [players], you win with a squad. The prizes are decided next May and until then we need all the players in the squad and highly motivated to contribute. That is not an expectation, that is a demand from the club and from me as manager of the squad. The team is always more important than any one individual.”
