Central midfielder Luiz was a marquee summer signing from Aston Villa under the then Juventus head coach Thiago Motta. But injuries hampered his Turin career, and he hardly set Serie A alight.
Seen as surplus to requirements under manager Igor Tudor, the Brazilian has a long list of a whopping 13 Premier League suitors eager to land his signature.
Going back to Villa is viable, Manchester City are keen, while bigwigs Arsenal and Chelsea have shown serious interest.
Although it appears that either Everton or Manchester United are more likely destinations as these clubs are anticipated to table a bid, both are also linked with Juventus target Wilfred Ndidi.
Juventus are weighing up a powerful replacement for Luiz, with an audacious move for Leicester City’s Ndidi seemingly their ideal candidate to add bite to the midfield.
No nonsense Ndidi's skills
The 28-year-old would fit the bill. He can play in central midfield or as a defensive midfielder. His aerial ability, blocking skills, physical prowess and fearless tackling would suit the rigors of the Italian top tier.
As Leicester suffered a drop from the top flight to the Championship, which means his contract has a release clause available for just €9 million (US$10.5m). His value just two seasons ago was €60m (US$70.3m).
Ndidi made over 220 Premier League appearances for Leicester, and won the 2020/21 FA Cup. He joined Leicester in January 2017 from Belgian Pro League's KRC Genk for €17m (US$19.9m).
Lucrative Middle East
A trio of Saudi Pro League clubs have been offered the chance to sign Ndidi, who has represented Nigeria 65 times.
Ndidi could be tempted to follow in the footsteps of his former Leicester team-mate Demarai Gray, to the cash-rich Saudi top tier. The Jamaica international joined Al-Ettifaq in September 2023, but last week signed for Championship side Birmingham City.
Al-Ahli, who Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic recently turned down, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and NEOM SC have been approached about a potential deal for Ndidi.
